Before we get to the reviews, let's first talk about the game itself. Black Myth: Wukong is developed and published by Game Science and is based on a classical Chinese novel known as "Journey to the West."

You take on the role of an anthropomorphic monkey referred to as the Destined One, who sets out to face challenges in the quest to find out the truth behind a certain legend from the past.

As previously mentioned, the game has already been released for the PlayStation 5 and Windows. It will be released for the Xbox Series X/S at a later date.

'Overwhelmingly Positive' on Steam

As of press time, Black Myth: Wukong has more than 230,000 user reviews on Steam. These reviews, according to its Steam page, are described to be "Overwhelmingly Positive."

"Spent 10 hours with Black Myth: Wukong so far, and it's been an incredible experience," a user named Alia said in a Steam review. "This game truly shines, offering stunning visuals, a rich cultural backdrop, and one of the most engaging, top-notch combat systems I've ever encountered."

"While I've read that some AMD users have experienced crashes and bugs, which can be a bit of a downer for them, my experience on an RX 7900 XTX with the recommended graphic settings has been flawless—the performance is as smooth as silk," Alia added.

"Black Myth: Wukong is a game I've eagerly anticipated for what feels like an eternity, and it doesn't disappoint," a Steam user named Raden said in a separate review. "This title perfectly captures the essence of a classic hack and slash experience, evoking memories of the golden PS3 era."

"What makes Black Myth: Wukong stand out even more is its scale," Raden went on to explain. "The game doesn't just pit you against a handful of enemies; it throws you into epic, sprawling battles that feel monumental."

4.6 Stars on Google Reviews

Black Myth: Wukong is likewise faring very well on Google Reviews. As of press time, the game has rated 4.6 stars.

"Absolutely in love with this game," Google user Sarah Holding said in a review. "It plays flawlessly for me on PS5 with the highest settings."

She added, "The combat is soooo much fun and there's a ton of moves but it never seems overwhelming."

"Black Myth: Wukong sets a new standard for action RPGs, blending artistry and gameplay into a must-play experience for fans of the genre," Google user LaK SL said in a review.

"The only downside is the inclusion of Denuvo DRM, which can cause performance issues and inconvenience for players," LaK SL pointed out. "I hope the developers remove it in a future update so more people can fully enjoy this masterpiece."
