If you were one of the people who was disheartened about the fact that BlizzCon was cancelled this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, you don’t have to worry as Blizzard has you covered with their BlizzConline event which will take place from February 19 to 20, 2021. If you want to read more about the cancelled BlizzCon event, you can click the link over here.
BlizzConline is a planned community showcase that gives opportunities for cosplay crafters, artists, and other community creators to display their talent. Since BlizzConline is held online, it makes the event accessible to people around the world and also gives enthusiasts a chance to appear on the big screen. Don’t forget to maintain adequate social distancing rules if you are creating any group-based submissions.
The confirmed events are sorted into cosplay exhibition, cosplay contest, art contest, march of the murlocs, and more. More events will be revealed as we get closer to the start of BlizzConline.
Cosplay Exhibition:
If you are starting your own cosplay-crafting journey, this is the perfect exhibition for you. It’s a fun event for people of all skill levels, whether you are professional or just an amateur. You can even dress up your pets for the event.
Cosplay Contest:
The Cosplay Contest will be one of the highlights of BlizzConline and it will feature four categories:
- Best Blizzard Character: Cosplaying as one of the most iconic characters from games like Diablo, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, StarCraft, and Warcraft
- Best Blizzard Weapons & Armor: The community’s effort at recreating fan-favorite in-game items
- Best Modern Creation: Integrating materials with the help of modern procedures such as 3D printing and other technology.
- Best Traditional Creation: Beautiful designs and skills working with materials like fabric, metal, wood etc.
Only one lucky winner will be revealed in each category during the BlizzConline event, so keep that in mind and prepare your entry well.
Art Contest:
Art contests will give people a chance to prove their creativity, whether it be through paintings, sculptures, or even some form of illustration.
March of the Murlocs:
If you have attended BlizzCon in the past few years, you likely have seen a bunch of people marching through the convection impersonating murlocs. To be considered for this event a video of you marching as a murloc needs to be submitted.
Blizzard hasn’t announced a price for the virtual tickets as of right now, or when they will be available to purchase. That said, since this event is purely online there is a chance it might be free. We’ll have to wait on Blizzard to make an official announcement before we know anything more about tickets.
