Booster Gold movie rumors have resurfaced, again. This time screenwriter Zack Stentz ( X-Men:First Class, Thor) is the center of speculation. Stentz, the pen behind the forthcoming Power Rangers film, is supposedly working the script alongside the entire Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl creative team: Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Sarah Schechter. The news comes by way of Kevin Smith (Comic Book Men), who guest directed the most recent Flash episode (which Stentz coincidentally wrote) called, “The Runaway Dinosaur.”

“Interestingly enough, I was working with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Sarah Schechter... we were working on different project that I'm not allowed to talk about right now,” Stentz said during an interview on Smith and Marc Bernadin’s Fatman on Batman podcast on YouTube.

Stentz pointed out Berlanti took some time off from the mysterious project because he’s got a child on the way. To fill the gap between projects, Kreisberg offered Stentz an opportunity to write a Flash episode. Stentz added he wanted to dip his hands into TV again so he accepted the offer.

“Greg was becoming a new dad. He was taking a little time off, and we had this gap in the time we were working on it. Andrew came up to me and said, ‘We don’t want you to be bored. Do you want to write a Flash episode for us?” Stentz said.

Bernardin, a comic book/ TV writer, and Smith appeared to know about the secret project and reacted with excessive excitement, highly suggesting it has to be comic related. Cleats & Capes pointed out Stentz alluded to the fact Warner Bros. is involved, so it’s also got to be a DC Comics adaptation. If it was a TV show he’s working on, he probably wouldn’t have said it’s been awhile since he’s wrote for TV.

Birth Movies Death’s sources also say there’s been talk about Stentz writing the Booster Gold film, with Berlanti producing and possibly directing. This matches recent comments from Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment Geoff Johns, who said Booster Gold is definitely on DC’s agenda.

“You’ll see [Booster Gold] very soon, and there’s talks about…there’s actually a lot of plans for Booster Gold, one of my favorite characters. But yeah, Booster Gold fans, you will definitely be happy with what we’ve got coming up in the years ahead,” Johns told ComicBook.com.

There were also rumors Booster Gold would be joining the cast of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow , but showrunner Phil Klemmer denied rumors and even said, “Perhaps Booster is being groomed for bigger things,” during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter .

This doesn't come as a surprise seeing multiple reports released late-2015 confirmed Berlanti and Schechter were indeed working on a Booster Gold film. It was originally thought Gold’s sidekick, Blue Beetle, would join him. Right now, it’s looking like a solo Booster Gold film. Berlanti has reportedly been interested in the project for years, at one point even scripting a pilot for SyFy.

DC’s favorite time-traveler, Booster Gold, is the father of Rip Hunter, who we’ve met on CW’s Legends of Tomorrow. He’s not superhuman, instead, his equipment and athleticism grant him powers. His suit is armed with blasters and a force field. Thanks to the Legion Flight Ring, Booster Gold zips around no problem. He runs with Blue Beetle, who gained his abilities from the mystical energies of the sacred scarab originating from the villainous cyborg race, The Reach. Both members of the Justice League, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold became best friends.

It could be a bit weird to have a Booster Gold film with no sign of Blue Beetle, but we’ll just have to wait to see what Berlanti, Kreisberg, Schechter and Stentz have in mind.
