The long-awaited sequel to "Hollow Knight: Silksong" finally appeared at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct event. Although fans were waiting anxiously for an update, the reveal was short-lived due to a sudden stream freeze, leaving most of them with mixed feelings.
'Hollow Knight: Silksong' Makes a Short but Significant Cameo
At the event, "Silksong" appeared in a brief glimpse of games coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. The short clip, which lasted just a few seconds, showcased protagonist Hornet's acrobatic combat and the game's trademark Metroidvania-style gameplay.
Although it was exciting to see the game reappear, the absence of a standalone trailer or meaningful new gameplay information left some fans disappointed. Some hope that Team Cherry will lay down the exact date of release so the waiting time will be much more bearable.
Official Release Window Confirmed, But Still Not Enough
Despite the disappointing reveal, Nintendo confirmed the release window of "Hollow Knight: Silksong" in 2025. This is the first confirmed release window after the game's 2019 announcement.
While some fans felt relieved that the game is finally having a grand entrance on a new console, not having a confirmed release date is concerning as to whether or not delays will occur.
Other games revealed during the stream freeze were "Gungeon 2," "Starseeker," and "Survival Kids."
Xbox Enters the Discussion
Not to be forgotten, Xbox also reminded everyone that "Hollow Knight: Silksong" will be day one on Xbox Game Pass, according to IGN. This means that more people can access the game immediately upon release.
Aside from Switch 2, "Silksong" will be released on several platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC.
Is the Hype Still Alive?
After years of delays and radio silence, fans are eager for more than just a fleeting glimpse of "Silksong." At the end of the day, while this is an interesting progress for the game, gamers want a deeper insight into its new mechanics, enemies, and environments
