NetEase and Marvel Games' popular free-to-play arena shooter game, "Marvel Rivals," is getting a massive overhaul in the future, according to developers, and this will start with the release of new characters joining the game.
It was recently revealed that developers now want a faster pace when it comes to bringing new heroes and villains to join the experience for all to enjoy.
Apart from this, there are more changes that will be made in the game future updates and releases, all focusing on improvements to the "Marvel Rivals" experience.
'Marvel Rivals' Character Releases to Happen Faster
The latest Dev Vision Vol. 05 shared on the "Marvel Rivals" official YouTube page provides details on the many upcoming updates making their way to the famed action-shooter game, and it is promising a bright future ahead.
While it tackled the many improvements coming to the game, the developers went straight to the point early in the video to announce that new character releases are set to happen at a faster pace.
According to the devs, "Marvel Rivals" will soon see one new character join its massive roster per month. While the developers did not specify its release cadence for new characters since the game's launch, the company has still delivered four new characters in the current season.
To date, "Marvel Rivals" already features 37 playable characters in its roster, with their first rollout happening during its beta testing phase, while other characters joined post launch.
For Season 1, NetEase treated fans and gamers with the arrival of the Marvel Comics' most famous family, the Fantastic Four, with the first half of Season 1 featuring Reed Richards's Mister Fantastic, and Sue Storm's Invisible Woman.
Later on, they were followed by Johnny Storm/the Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Will This Be Applied for the Upcoming Season 2?
As per the developers, this setup will not yet be available starting Season 2, which is coming next week, but will apply by Season 3's start. With this, NetEase will also focus on a two-month format per season, which means that a single season on the game will bring two new characters before the next one arrives.
For Season 2, "Marvel Rivals" confirmed the arrival of mutant Emma Frost. That being said, Ultron remains unconfirmed despite appearing in the official trailer.
More Changes for 'Marvel Rivals'
Apart from the new season format and character releases, devs have also shared that players may soon see weekly missions to accomplish and help them earn more Chrono Tokens in the process. This change will help players understand more about how to earn its in-game currency, as well as claim rewards available via the "Marvel Rivals" battle pass.
The devs are inviting players to tune in to more announcements and developer diaries to learn more about the upcoming changes before its massive revamp arrives for Season 3.
