Nintendo's massive April Direct event gave the world the better look at the upcoming Switch 2, as well as a first look into "Mario Kart World," but the company still has another first-party game that is brewing.
In fact, the "Mario" franchise's favorite gorilla, Donkey Kong, is set to get 3D platformer title that will be available for the new console.
'Donkey Kong Bananza': Switch 2's New 3D Platformer
Fans of Donkey Kong have nothing more to worry about as Nintendo is finally turning its attention to the character after years of skipping out on the sub-franchise for the Switch platform. The previous Direct has introduced "Donkey Kong Bananza" to the world, which features the revamped look for the great gorilla.
Nintendo said that this game is a "ground-breaking adventure" featuring the iconic character, with this new game centering on a new action-adventure genre that explores many elements related to "DK."
This game immediately follows the recently released "Donkey Kong Country Returns HD," but is unlike the previous game, which was primarily a remake.
This new game is a new installment to the "Donkey Kong" franchise by Nintendo that will be a 3D platformer that is dedicated to the gorilla. According to ComicBook Gaming, Donkey Kong is embarking on a new journey, which is set not in DK Island but in a new underground world.
Moreover, the report claimed that this new game is more comparable to Nintendo's "Super Mario Odyssey" rather than "Donkey Kong Country."
Solo Adventure For World-Famous Gorilla
The main focus of "Donkey Kong Bananza" is the character's search for Golden Bananas while encountering new NPC apes in the process, as well as new characters and more exciting experiences.
According to ComicBook Gaming, the trailer from Nintendo showcased several 2D areas in the game but a demo that they have tried focused more on new and original content.
Moreover, this is also the first time in several decades that Donkey Kong is getting new character design and art, which makes it feel more original compared to his previous iterations and appearances. Donkey Kong's new design is more similar to his look in "The Super Mario Bros. Movie."
Donkey Kong is also more expressive in the latest game from Nintendo, and it gives more depth to the character compared to his previous versions. The report claims that this game may focus more on a new beginning for the character.
