It will soon be five years since CD Projekt Red released "Cyberpunk 2077" and now, the company is teasing something new coming to the title, but fans are still left without any concrete information.
CD Projekt Red's game has gone on a roller coaster of events since its 2020 release, but ultimately, the game has continued to deliver what it promised over a decade ago.
Speculations are now debating on what CD Projekt Red truly has in store for the franchise moving forward, especially with their cryptic posts and subliminal messages about the future.
'Cyberpunk 2077' Teasers: CDPR's Cryptic Posts Online
A series of posts from "Cyberpunk 2077's" X account has been talking specifically about the birthdays of its fictional characters in the game, and the company has discussed it over and over again, leading to fans suspecting that something is up.
For April alone, CD Projekt Red claimed that three in-game characters are celebrating birthdays this month, and while it is a mere celebration only, other calendars from the game are hinting at new things coming.
The game released a "cheat sheet" of birthdays in the "Cyberpunk" franchise which includes the different characters' birth dates, as well as the launch dates of the main "Cyberpunk 2077" game, which was released on December 10, 2020. It also featured the launch date of the franchise's saving grace, "Phantom Liberty" expansion which was released on September 26, 2023.
However, what was fishy in the game's cheat sheet for birthdays is that there were greyed out boxes, which only says "encrypted data." The developers claimed that those encrypted data boxes are only a "glitch" in their systems but proceeded to make a teaser out of it.
Birthdays… They’ll creep up on you before you know it! 👴🏼👵🏼

That’s why we’ve prepped this Cyberpunk 2077 anniversaries and character birthdays cheatsheet! 🗓
Oh, and don’t worry about the encrypted data warning. Just a glitch in the system! Or is it? 👀 pic.twitter.com/NcfOkBkgJA
While there are no specifics from "Cyberpunk 2077" regarding what these encrypted data are all about, it is clear that they are trying to tell fans that there are unknown things coming to these unconfirmed dates.
Over the past week, "Cyberpunk 2077's" X account has been active in replying to fans who are reacting to the doubtful "glitch" in its system.
Will CD Projekt Red Unveil a Sequel or New Anime?
Speculations are now running wild with what CD Projekt Red has to offer gamers in the future, with GameRant reporting on two possible things that may be what the developers are hinting with in their cryptic posts. First, it is expected that CD Projekt Red will follow up the "Cyberpunk 2077" with a sequel to the original game that would expand its plot.
It may be a different project entirely and will likely not be like 2023's "Phantom Liberty" DLC, which is only additional content for the 2020 game. According to the report, this is the so-called "Project Orion" from CD Projekt Red, which is speculated to be the next installment of the franchise that largely remains unconfirmed.
Recently, CDPR has been expanding its efforts to develop the game by hiring more employees to work on Project Orion and for other games under development within the company.
Lastly, there are speculations that this teaser is possibly talking about a new anime on Netflix that would follow the footsteps of "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" from 2022.
