Chapter 6 of the Boruto - Naruto the Next Generation manga has been uploaded and continues the story of the Boruto Movie.
In the previous chapter, Boruto’s cheating ways during the Chunin Exam were discovered by his father, Naruto, but just as he was being disqualified, Kinshiki and Momoshiki arrived to take the Hokage away.
Naruto wakes Kurama up as the pair combine their powers to take down the mystery invaders, but will their combined strength be enough?
SPOILER ALERT! THE FOLLOWING WILL SPOIL THE EVENTS OF THE BORUTO MANGA AS WELL AS THE BORUTO MOVIE. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS, TURN BACK NOW.
The chapter begins with Naruto going full Kyubi cloak as he holds back the blast from Kinshiki. Naruto holds the blast up when Boruto asks Sasuke why his father doesn’t just destroy the blast. Sasuke explains Naruto easily could, but that would result in the last being destroyed.
Kinshiki claims Naruto is a fool for trying to absorb the attack and his behavior is a sign of inferior life forms.
Naruto absorbs the blast and Boruto looks on as the Kyubi cloak disappears. The words Sasuke told him about his father growing up go through his mind -- how a dropout who wasn’t good at anything worked hard, despite his shortcomings, to become Hokage. Boruto finally understands and cries out for his father before knocking out and waking up in the hospital.
Boruto is surrounded by Misuki and Sarada as they explain to him everyone was brought to the hospital and the Hokage protected everyone.
The young ninja realizes that his mother and sister were at the stadium and looks for them. He finds his mother, Hinata, in a hospital bed as Sakura uses her medical ninjutsu to help her. Boruto’s sister is sitting next to their mother when Boruto asks what happened.
Sakura explains that Hinata tried to fight and stop the invaders from taking Naruto.
Boruto runs out of the hospital upset as he thinks about his father being taken away. He trips when he gets outside and notices the ninjutsu machine still on his wrist. He takes it off and throws it away before he goes to the Hokage’s office.
He looks up at a picture of Minato and understands that Naruto had to go through life without his father, but still wonders why he had to become Hokage, stuck in an office away from his family. Boruto sees Naruto’s old orange jumpsuit and puts it on. He looks at the mirror and calls it lame, and Sasuke agrees.
Sasuke comes in through the window and explains to Boruto that the young ninja is a cheater, not even a ninja anymore now that Naruto took his headband away. Boruto has lost his father but at least he still has his sister and mother.
Boruto asks Sasuke what would Naruto do in this situation and Sasuke sarcastically points out that now Boruto wants to learn and overcome his weaknesses. He then tells Boruto to go ask his father himself because he’s going to go and help him. He explains he can still sense Naruto’s chakra, so he isn’t dead, but they should hurry.
Boruto stops Sasuke and asks why he bothers with him. Sasuke explains that Boruto is his number one disciple, and one day he will surpass even Naruto because he’s the son of the Hokage AND he’s being trained by Sasuke.
On top of that, Boruto is more of a loser than Naruto was and that will allow Boruto to hate losing so much that he will learn to never give up.
The Four Kages appear and say if Sasuke is going to go help Naruto, they will join them. Sasuke opens a portal using his Rinnengan but says only a few can be transported. They all agree the Four Kages, Sasuke and Boruto will go after Naruto when Hinata appears.
Boruto looks back at his mother, who is scared for her son, and puts on the crossed-out headband Sasuke gave him moments prior. Hinata looks at her son and thinks about Naruto at that age and Boruto says that he’ll bring Naruto back.
Hinata calls out to her son to take care of his dad. Sasuke says that he’s starting to finally act like a ninja and Boruto tells his teammates to wait for him and to take care of things while he’s gone.
And that’s how Chapter 6 of the Boruto manga ends. Next month, Naruto rescue team will face off against Kinshiki and Momoshiki and perhaps the arc that is covered in the Boruto movie will finish.
