Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is launching on November 13, which is just a week away. It was previously revealed that Cold War will require at least 120+ GB of storage space, and now we have news on the game's day one patch, which weighs in at 11.8GB.
Day one patches are quite common for video games, and especially for multiplayer games. These patches address the final changes made before launch. These fixes could include game optimizations, bug fixes, weapon balancing, and more.
It's also quite common for games to have big day one patches, and even the previous Call of Duty: Modern Warfare received a day one patch that was about 20GB in size on the PlayStation 4.
While we know that Cold War is set to receive a day one patch, the details of what the patch entails are unknown at the moment. Modern Warfare's day one patch addressed issues like spawning, game mode balancing, weapon rebalancing, graphical optimizations, and more. The same can be expected from the patch that's arriving for Black Ops Cold War.
If you didn't already know, Black Ops Cold War will also get integrated with Warzone in December. And since there's still time for that, we suspect that the Cold War day one patch has nothing to do with Warzone, but we could be wrong. Speaking of Warzone integration, Activision shared in a blog post how Black Ops Cold War will launch as a separate game and later integrate with Warzone, bringing the Modern Warfare and Black Ops universes together. The blog post goes into the intricate details of weapon progression, Battle Pass integration, and more. So, it's worth checking out if you care.
We tried the open beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and we certainly enjoyed what we experienced, especially the new game modes. It's safe to say that Call of Duty has now realized what fans have been asking for for so long.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is releasing on November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
