Looks like we finally have a new addition to the video game and food collaboration. This time it’s for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. They’re going to be partnering with Mountain Dew Game Fuel and Doritos. This partnership is going to give players access to bonus in-game rewards and prizes. Players can score double XP with each purchase, along with a chance to win special gaming swag.
Call of Duty: Back Ops Cold War is the going to be the sixth game in the Black Ops series. Aside from the exciting campaign, the game is going to reintroduce a new Zombies mode. The game is set to be released on November 13 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
For Doritos, they’ve already unveiled the newest chip flavor in celebration of Black Ops Cold War's launch. Dubbed as Doritos Twisted Lime, these crunchy tortilla chips are sure to be a hit with everyone with their combination of tangy and heat with a mouth-watering lime flavor. The Twisted Lime chips are going to be sold in a limited-time exclusive Call of Duty-themed packaging.
In a statement to the press, Doritos Senior Director of Marketing Caio Correa shared that whether its snacking or gaming, their fans have always been passionate when it comes to taking things to the next level. He said that the Black Ops Cold War game is the best moment to introduce this bold favor. He went on to say that this new flavor “brings a new lime-flavored chip that packs the same intense citrus punch consumers love and allows us to celebrate our latest partnership with Activision in a big way.”
For the in-game rewards mentioned, players can buy participating items for the chance to unlock prizes. These include bags of Doritos, cans of Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew Zero Sugar, Diet Mountain Dew, and Mountain Dew Game Fuel. Inside these items are codes that, when entered, automatically include the purchaser in the weekly drawing which offers a grand prize of 2XP for one year. In addition, the first purchase of select Mountain Dew Game Fuel cans and/or Doritos bag allows gamers to unlock bonus in-game calling cards and weapon charms.
For Mountain Dew’s part, Senior Director Marketing Erin Chin said that they are excited to partner with Call of Duty. She went on to say that “fans have come to expect best-in-class experiences from Dew and partnering with Activision allows us to do exactly that.”
