As Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is going into open beta this weekend, Activision released a new open beta trailer that highlights some of the multiplayer modes that players can enjoy. The trailer shows off a variety of maps as well as confirms five game modes, including Team Deathmatch, Domination, VIP Escort, Kill Confirmed, and Combined Arms. However, there is also a possibility that the open beta may include additional content.
Long time CoD fans will already be familiar with the classic game modes, which include Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Kill Confirmed. However, VIP Escort and Combined Arms are brand new game modes that fans will be experiencing for the first time. In case you're wondering what these two new game modes entail, check out their descriptions below:
VIP Escort: VIP Escort is a 6v6 game mode in which one team is tasked to protect a VIP while the other team has to hunt down the VIP. Unlike other games that feature a similar game mode, in Black Ops Cold War, a player will be assuming the role of a VIP. The VIP is randomly chosen at the start of the round and that player is equipped with only a handgun. The VIP has to coordinate with the team and stay alive until the team reaches the extraction point.
Combined Arms: Combined Arms is a 12v12 game mode that plays similar to the classic Domination game mode. However, the biggest difference between Combined Arms and Domination is that the former features a much bigger map and six flags that have to be captured. Unlike Domination, in Combined Arms, players are free to use a variety of vehicles like tanks, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, buggies, gunboats, and wave runners to complete the objectives.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta will be available from October 8 to October 12 for those who pre-order the game on the PS4. The beta will be available for all PS4 players from October 10 to October 12. PC and Xbox One users who pre-order the game will be able to enjoy the beta from October 15 to October 19. The beta will be open for all players on PC and Xbox One from October 17 to October 19.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is releasing on November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
