All XFINITY subscribers can join in the private Call of Duty: WWII beta for free Activision

Call of Duty: WWII will begin private beta testing soon, and if you happen to be an XFINITY internet subscriber, you don’t even have to pre-order the game to get in on the action. Simply enter some information on an XFINITY website starting Aug. 23, and you’ll get a code to jump back to World War II and start killing Nazis.

Call of Duty is one of, if not the world’s most popular console games. Through a partnership with them, we will be able to offer up to XFINITY customers beta access,” Matt Lederer, executive director of partnership marketing at Comcast, told Player.One. “Typically the beta is only available if you pre-order the game, but we’re excited to be offering an extra service to our customers.”

If you have an XFINITY subscription, go to xfinity.com/callofduty and enter your Comcast account number, then choose either Xbox One or PS4. You should receive a code for your chosen platform in an email shortly after. The Call of Duty: WWII beta will begin on Aug. 25 for PS4 and Sept. 1 for Xbox One.

The reason for XFINITY’s involvement is to reach a different type of customer than the company’s esports promotions, as well as provide additional value to customers as a thank you.

“For us, it’s really exciting. The success of our esports partnerships has convinced us that gaming as a whole is a key space,” Lederer said. “This [Call of Duty] partnership introduces our brand in a relevant way to those who are heavy console users, who may or may not be big esports players or enthusiasts. To partner with the most popular console game out there, and offer a value to our customers, as well as expand the base of people we’re talking to about the value of our product to the game space is a win-win.”

Along with offering private beta access, XFINITY will also host video content to promote Call of Duty: WWII. If you were concerned the advertising might somehow bleed over into the game, Lederer says not to worry. “There’s nothing like logos in the game or anything like that,” he said. “Nothing in terms of in-game or official designations or anything.”

By partnering with Dota 2 team Evil Geniuses and offering early access to games like Call of Duty, XFINITY aims to establish itself as the premiere internet provider in the eyes of gamers.

“We believe that our brand and our product is taking a really strong place in the world of gaming and are making sure whether you are a hardcore esports fan, participant or enthusiast, if you’re a console game player, if you just enjoy Candy Crush on the way home, our product will allow you to enjoy that, participate in that and do that better through our internet,” said Lederer.

As for what’s next with XFINITY’s gaming partnerships, there’s nothing specific in the works yet, but the company is open to future opportunities. “We don’t have anything in the hopper right now, but it shows the way we stepped into gaming with ESL and Evil Geniuses, we’ve seen strong success with that,” Lederer said. “That encouraged us as a company to expand that and look for more. Assuming that trend continues, and this Activision partnership works, we’ve always got our eyes open for the next opportunity.”

Be sure to visit xfinity.com/callofduty between Aug. 23 and 31 to ensure you get your beta access code.
