Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC 3 has been on PS4 for about a month, and that means Xbox One and PC season pass holders will finally be able to experience the content. The Call Of Duty experts at CharlieINTEL have listed Absolution with an Aug. 8 release date on both platforms.

We previously recapped the contents of the Absolution DLC when it first arrived last month, but we’ll do it again for those who missed the news. As has been the tradition for Call Of Duty expansions, the forthcoming Infinite Warfare content drop will offer four multiplayer maps and one new Zombies chapter.

MULTIPLAYER MAPS

  • Ember: It’s a castle-themed remake of Resistance from Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 filled with old-world and technologically advanced goodies. This map isn’t for the faint of heart, however. It’s got lava, gallows and a torture chamber.
  • Bermuda: It takes place in a shantytown created a round the remains of a shipwreck. It’s waterlogged, full of sand and focused primarily on wall running and movement. It’s great for small or medium lobby sizes.
  • Permafrost: Within a frozen city skyline, Permafrost is a ground-focused map with three distinct lanes for attack. It’s got a diverse set of locations to explore, just like a real city, and it’s predictably centered around close-quarters combat.
  • Fore: This is the zany map of the bunch, and it takes combatants to a themed golf course. Be on the lookout for magical forests and huge castle walls.

For pictures of each of these maps, be sure to check out our PS4 recap above. The versions on Xbox One and PC are exactly the same. Above all, like most Call Of Duty map packs of the day, the emphasis here is on variety. That being said, small-size maps seem to be a trend this time around.

ZOMBIES CHAPTER - ATTACK OF THE RADIOACTIVE THING

In the tradition of Willard Wyler’s cinematic levels, Absolution’s map transports players into the script of a ‘50s creature feature. A government science experiment has predictably gone wrong in a ravaged beach town, and zombies are roaming the streets. The hallmark celebrity guest for the DLC is Elvira’s Cassandra Peterson reprising her classic role. The voice talents of Ike Barinholtz and Seth Green return as well to expand the ever-complex lore that’s already been established.

Critical story questions still remain for Zombies fans. What exactly is the Soul Key and why have our protagonists been chosen to collect its pieces? What is Willard Wyler’s motivation for making all of this happen? What will the final leg of this bizarre journey bring? These subjects and more are slowly unraveled in this latest installment.

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Absolution DLC comes to Xbox One and PC Aug. 8, while the game’s final DLC pack is expected to hit PS4 first in September. Infinite Warfare is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

‘Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ Review: The Shooter To Skip This Holiday Season
The rise of new properties, like Titanfall and Overwatch, combined with resurgent properties, like Destiny or Battlefield, make it hard to justify the shrinking number of new ideas in Call of Duty. Those who purchased Infinite Warfare on day one may not relate to anything in this article. But those with less fondness for the franchise, or just expecting COD:IW to at least match the quality of Advanced Warfare or Black Ops 3, should probably turn their attention elsewhere.
  • Cool weapons
  • A decent campaign story
  • Zombies is as fun and weird as ever
  • Multiplayer is too much of a grind for good weapons
  • There's not much originality in the entire package.
