Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare is getting a classic multiplayer mode back over the next few hours, and it’s called Reinforce. Balance issues prompted its removal in December, but now it’s returned for an unknown period of time. The game’s developers at Infinity Ward confirmed the news via Twitter.
For those who forget Reinforce, it’s sort of hybrid of Domination, Search and Destroy and Search and Rescue. It’s a 4v4 team elimination mode where capturing points revives fallen teammates. Victory is earned by taking all control points or killing the enemy team. Coordination is key to keeping allies alive while securing new areas of the map. The multiplayer mode made its debut in Call Of Duty: Ghosts.
This isn’t the first time Reinforce was brought to Infinite Warfare, of course, At the beginning of December, the mode made a brief weekend appearance and was swiftly removed. At that time, players complained about lopsided reward systems, lag and weapons that were too weak to be functional. Infinity Ward promised Reinforce would return once these problems were fixed, and now that obligation has been fulfilled.
At the time of writing, we do not know if the return of Reinforce will be temporary or permanent. We’d be inclined to lean towards temporary, simply because it makes the addition a unique event that could reignite any lapsed interest in multiplayer. Regardless, a special playlist will be added that specifically features the mode.
Beyond Reinforce, January promises to be a pretty big month for Infinite Warfare. The game’s first DLC pack, called Sabotage, is set to go live on Jan. 31. A recent leak suggests the Blood Anvil Mission Team might be a part of the update.
Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
