The reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is out now, less than a week after evidence of the project appeared online, giving fans an early look at the most futuristic take on Call of Duty we’ve seen in the franchise’s 13-year history.
We’ve known for several days now that the next Call of Duty would be called Infinite Warfare , after pre-order cards for the game popped up on Snapchat last week, but now we’re finally getting a better idea of what Infinity Ward has planned for its next Call of Duty release. Obviously, there’s going to be plenty of gunplay. It is Call of Duty , after all. But it looks like Infinite Warfare might be one of the most ambitious entries in the series from a storytelling perspective.
From what we can tell, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will see the United States go to war with the Settlement Defense Front; a fictitious organization that seems to be tied to humanity’s attempts to colonize celestial objects outside of Earth’s orbit. It’s not clear what prompted the war, which seems to begin after the SDF invades its home planet, but the trailer doesn’t give any information about why the organization has turned on the rest of mankind.
