At E3 Coliseum 2019, Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward was proud to unveil the very first look at the upcoming title’s multiplayer. While there was no gameplay video revealed (at least not yet) fans were shown in-game screenshots showcasing the game’s multiplayer.
The first screenshot, shown above, depicts a player equipped with a sniper rifle and wearing a ghillie suit - probably the very same outfit that players can acquire from the Operator Pack alongside the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Operator Edition. Specifically, this screenshot looks like the players has the “All Ghillied Up” set equipped, including the sniper rifle with suppressor.
In the second screenshot, we see something that may be familiar to Call of Duty fans: a minigun-wielding tank of a person wearing thick and heavy ballistic armor. Whether this is a player or an enemy, it’s hard to say, but one thing’s for sure: it definitely looks like the elite enemy juggernauts that the Call of Duty franchise is famous for, especially their appearance in the original Modern Warfare trilogy.
Of course, screenshots aren’t a lot and fans were left yearning for more - gameplay, teasers, cinematics, anything. However, when pressed, Infinity Ward representatives merely said “There is more to come on this stuff, please be patient." Granted, the game was only officially announced less than two weeks ago, so us fans will just have to wait until the developers are ready when it comes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Thankfully, that’s not all we found out at the conference. While information on the game’s multiplayer is scarce, we do know more about how the game’s story is going to pan out. Like previous Modern Warfare titles, the game will have players take on the role of more than one operator. In the first half, we’ll be playing as Sgt. Kyle Garrick, an officer in the British Army, and in the second half, we’ll be playing CIA Agent Alex Last-name-redacted.
