A year without a mainline Call of Duty is not a year at all. The first-person military shooter has released a flagship Call of Duty title each year since 2005, and it’s sure as heck not gonna stop now. Normally, a new COD is revealed in April or May, but for the last few years, announcements got delayed till August. The same has happened this year as well.
Alleged Reveal Date
According to a well-known COD leaker and Industry Insider, Tom Henderson, 2021’s Call of Duty will be officially revealed on August 19. Tom claimed on Twitter that the information has been confirmed by four different people. The said tweet is now deleted at the behest of Activision, making it even more believable.
Henderson further claimed in recent posts that 2021’s Call of Duty will feature a new anti-cheat system, which will also apply on Warzone. This makes sense as it’s no secret that both Cold War and Warzone have a hacking problem. A new anti-cheat will go a long way, assuming that it works. Activision announced back in March that they have banned more than 300,000 hackers. Just last month, they banned 50,000 accounts, but the game still suffers because of cheaters.
Previous Leaks
There is not a lot of official information about 2021’s COD . Though we do know that it is being developed by Sledgehammer Games. Previous rumors have suggested that it will be a World War 2 game titled Call of Duty Vanguard. Other leaks have suggested that Vanguard isn’t as ambitious as Modern Warfare (2019), and it is just basically Black Ops Cold War 2.0.
How Will It Be Revealed?
Vanguard could be revealed in several ways. Activision can do it via an in-game event as they did in Cold War. There is also a good chance it can be done during the PlayStation State of Play, which is also supposed to happen on August 19. Check out our previous article for more information.
