An update recently dropped for Call of Duty: Warzone and it fixed an issue with the Red Doors not allowing multiple squads to get in. It also fixed a problem with Battle Pass Tiers not unlocking correctly when the Battle Pass and Battle Pass Bundle were received as a gift.
Speaking of Battle Passes, those who will purchase the Battle Pass Bundle today until August 31 get the Kitsune “Kyubi” Skin.
Anyway, the update also tunes some weapons, including the AS VAL assault rifle, the Fennec submachine gun, the M19 handgun, among many others.
Weapon Tuning
According to developers at Raven Software, they are generally pleased with the current state of balance in the game.
However, they feel that some assault rifles are being used more than others and that is why they are thinking of reducing their power in a later update. This is to help put the spotlight on other weapons so that players are not restricted to using guns that are in the current meta.
In the meantime, the recent update did some tweaks to certain guns. Here are the weapons that were adjusted:
ASSAULT RIFLES
AS VAL (MW)
Maximum Damage decreased from 30 to 27
SUBMACHINE GUNS
Fennec (MW)
Bullet Velocity increased by 13.4%
Submachine Gun Charlie (MW)
Maximum Damage decreased from 34 to 31
Maximum Damage Range decreased by 5.4%
Upper Torso Damage Multiplier increased from 1 to 1.1
OTs 9 (BOCW)
ADS Weapon Sway decreased
HANDGUNS
AMP 63 (BOCW)
Maximum Damage decreased from 33 to 31
Mid Damage now 28
Minimum Damage decreased from 28 to 23
M19 (MW)
This change only applies while using Akimbo
Maximum Damage decreased from 33 to 29
Mid Damage decreased from 28 to 25
Minimum Damage decreased from 23 to 20
Sykov (MW)
This change only applies while using the Sorokin 140mm Auto
Maximum Damage decreased from 27 to 24
Mid Damage decreased from 23 to 20
Minimum Damage decreased from 19 to 17
Developers said that AS VAL was still one of the best weapons in terms of fast Time to Kill (TTK). Even though its magazine size holds the weapon back slightly, its TTK potential remains far off than what they have intended. Because of this, the weapon had its damage decreased a little.
Those who have used the OTs 9 submachine gun may have noticed that the front iron sights obstructed the rear iron sights while doing large, sweeping motions. To fix this, devs have reduced the weapon sway so that you can effectively track your enemies when aiming down sights.
The Call of Duty: Warzone August 16 Update is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
