UPDATE 2:13 EDT: Codes are being sent out for PS4 pre-orders! Check your email!
Call Of Duty: WWII ’s multiplayer beta is live now on PS4 and gamers are already getting their fill of classic online action. While the testing period wasn’t expected to begin until Aug. 25, those with a valid key are currently online. This development was reported by the Call Of Duty experts at CharlieINTEL just minutes ago.
In case you missed our previous reports on the subject, weekend one of the Call of Duty: WWII beta ends Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. EDT. It features three standard maps (Pointe du Hoc, Ardennes, and Gibraltar) in Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint and Mosh Pit playlists. For those looking for something totally fresh, the objective-based War mode is also available in an online campaign called Operation Breakout.
With regard to progression, players will be able to advance through the first 20 levels of the suite’s class-based Divisions. Each Division maxes out at level 4 and comes with specific perks called Basic Training to assist them in battle. The combat-based Infantry Division, for example, is best suited for Training that offers extra ammo or reduced recoil. In addition to standard primary and secondary weapons, combatants can also test out a variety of era-specific Scorestreaks ranging from fighter planes to molotov cocktails.
Those who have a key from a retail pre-order or the special promotion with XFINITY are encouraged to redeem it here. Meanwhile, Activision has yet to send out keys to its beta participants, though we expect that will change over the next few hours. When the publisher is ready to unleash the masses on its new multiplayer playground, an email will be sent to the registered address. As it stands right now, the beta is only available for PS4 owners who pre-ordered the game or are XFINITY internet subscribers. We suspect the testing period will go public eventually, but it might not be until the second weekend that begins Sept. 1. From Sept. 1 through Sept. 5, PS4 and Xbox One players can participate.
Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3. A PC beta is planned, but dates have not been announced at this time.
