The December 15 patch for Call of Duty: Vanguard features many changes and improvements. Yet there’s something hidden that even players got confused about. You may notice it in Call of Duty: Zombies where the health has been altered without an explanation. Developers are yet to enlighten players on what exactly happened and why such a change is applied.
The Unexplained Change
Let’s start with the patch notes of the December 15 update. Several adjustments were revealed including for Objectives, Covenants, Weapons, Gameplay, Challenges, UI, Audio, Subtitles/Text, and Stability. At the time of this writing, the patch notes said nothing about health changes for Vanguard’s Der Anfang Zombies experience. So, players are expecting the same experience before the patch. But if you play the game mode now, you are up for a surprise.
According to an article, the latest update changed the max health cap big time in Der Anfang. Redditor TheShadowfest uploaded an image of the surprise. The health cap is now at 300 from the previous 200. To get that much health, you need to get the Fiendish Fortitude Perk, which grants extra health. With the change, the perk now awards 50 extra health, instead of 25. If you max the perk’s tier, you get 300 health.
Isn’t that supposed to be a good thing? At first, players will find that very helpful as they can reach later levels with better chances. Here’s where the problem lies: what else was changed but wasn't told?
That is what Redditor EggyFins voiced in a separate post. They wondered that if one major change wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes, what else was altered and why not tell that to players. Their inquiry seems reasonable because COD patch notes tend to detail every single adjustment, liked or disliked by the player base.
So, it is curious why the change got left out from the patch notes. Is it possible that the developers forgot to include the health change? Perhaps in the coming days, the developers would let players know the real reason behind it.
But for now, check out some of the other changes in Zombies:
- Objectives
- Purge
- Visibility improved in low light areas, making it more visually clear when capturing Control Runes.
- The progress bar no longer overlaps various notifications such as Challenge Completions, Rank Ups, Weapon Level Ups, and more.
- Covenants
- Brimstone
- Brimstone no longer damages zombies when the player is downed.
- Brimstone has been adjusted to now only deal damage to zombies that are in the player’s line of sight.
- Weapons
- Addressed an issue where weapons obtained from crates briefly displayed the wrong model when dropping.
- Addressed an issue where some Mystery Box weapons would appear with their magazine detached from the weapon.
