Captain America: Civil War has been out for just about three weeks now and pretty much everyone loves it. Part of that endearment comes from the MCU debut of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. It’s safe to say Holland and Marvel knocked Spidey’s introduction out of the park and anticipation for the character’s first MCU solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, is starting to grow.
Civil War teased Spider-Man: Homecoming with its final after-credits scene, so it’s no surprise that Captain America himself, Chris Evans, is down to return the favor and cameo in Holland’s movie. In a recent interview with MTV, Evans was asked which Marvel movie he’d like Captain America to appear in next. He initially opens with a desire to feature in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but concedes Captain America isn’t really a space guy. Then he gives us the answer we all came for:
“Maybe the next Spider-Mans. Those are going to be fantastic and I think Tom [Holland] is a great actor, so that might be a fun one to pop up into.”
Yas, Chris, please do “pop up” into Spider-Man: Homecoming. Evans’ frenemy Robert Downey Jr. is already onboard to reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man/Peter Parker’s mentor, so it only makes sense for Evans to join the action as well. As Evans notes later in the MTV interview, Marvel is really good at crossing over characters and storylines, so it’d be a nice lil surprise for Captain America to cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
We’ll see if Evans gets his wish when Spider-Man: Homecoming arrives in theaters July 7, 2017.
- Hilarious from start to finish
- Spider-Man's place in MCU solidified
- Underserved supporting characters
- Tony Stark is an asshole
