Following the massive success of the Witcher franchise, fans of developer CD Projekt Red have been anxiously awaiting further news and updates on the studio's upcoming dystopian role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077.
First announced in 2012, Cyberpunk 2077 waited six years before showing up again at least year’s E3 with tons of new information. Fans and critics alike were left with blown minds and wide-open jaws with what Cyberpunk 2077 was turning into - a true RPG with stunning visuals, deep game mechanics, and amazing open world gameplay. Cyberpunk 2077 is based loosely on the tabletop adventure game Cyberpunk 2020, except 57 years further into a dark, dystopian future. With CD Projekt Red’s excellent track record for building award-winning and revolutionary role-playing games, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to have a non-linear plot with open-world and multiplayer elements thrown into the mix.
While CD Projekt Red hasn’t been very forthcoming with any updates on the game apart from the occasional developer update, gameplay reveal, and concept art submissions keep the public interested. That will change later this year, as CD Projekt Red has announced the team will be making an appearance at the upcoming E3 2019.
In October 2018, CD Project Red released a gameplay reveal that included some character creation prototypes and 48 minutes of gameplay. This was more than enough to spark the interest and praise of video game fans and critics alike. Hopefully we’ll be able to see more into the game at E3 2019, as well as find out more about when its coming to platforms and consoles around the world.
Cyberpunk 2077 is still in its early stages of development, but from what we’ve seen so far, it’s going to be one of the biggest games of the decade. There hasn’t been any official information regarding launch date or even pricing, but we do know that the game is coming to PC, Xbox One, and PS4, and that we’re all excited for what CD Projekt Red has in store for us at E3.
