CD Projekt has had a rough couple of months, and honestly, they kinda deserved it. Anyway, it seems like they are trying to make amends for the disastrous launch of their highly-awaited title, Cyberpunk 2077.
Marketing New Games
In a recent investor video update, CD Projekt SVP of business development Michał Nowakowski revealed that from now on, they will market new games when they are “much closer” to the release date. They might tease the game early once in a while but don’t expect proper gameplay footage and demos to be revealed years before, like what they did with Cyberpunk 2077.
Developing Two Games From 2022
Speaking of what games they will develop next, the company has confirmed that from 2022 they will work on two games simultaneously. Which games will they be? That was not revealed but the developer did drop a hint. In a recent tweet by CD Projekt IR, the artwork of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 was the background with the text “Parallel AAA Development to Start in 2022.”
Possible Games
This tweet hints that CD Projekt’s next likely two games may be from these IPs. Will it be Witcher 4 that continues the story of Ciri or something else entirely (as the story of Geralt is finished)? Will the next Cyberpunk game be a proper sequel or are they referring to the “upcoming” multiplayer game? I guess we will have to wait and see.
New Studio
CD Projekt's decision to develop two games at once seems a little too ambitious, however, it’s not an impossible task. The company recently purchased Digital Scapes, a Canadian game development studio that helped them with Cyberpunk 2077 . This studio may be key in the simultaneous development of two different titles.
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and Stadia. You can play the game on Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility. The game is currently unavailable in the PlayStation Store, which means you can only play it on PS4 and PS5 if you purchased the game before it was removed or have a physical copy. Though the game should re-release on PS Store soon.
