Publisher Modus Games and developer Stormind Games have just released the brand new “Whispers” story trailer for the upcoming survival horror game Remothered: Broken Porcelain. The 90 second trailer provides a backstory to set the tone for the sequel of the chilling cult classic.
Remothered: Broken Porcelain hopes to bring back the magic (and terror) that made its predecessor, Remothered: Tormented Fathers, the acclaimed survival horror that it is. However, Broken Porcelain aims to achieve new heights by introducing a number of changes to the series such as new gameplay mechanics and storytelling elements that will provide a new level of immersion for players both new and returning to the series. Stormind Games has yet to provide a name or a face to the player’s character, but as is expected from its predecessor, scares will not be coming from goose-chases or surprises, but from the innate eeriness of the game’s setting and the gameplay focus on stealth and survival.
Set in the haunted halls of Ashmann Inn, players must navigate and locate resources, avoid dangers, and plan for their unlikely escape. It will also be full of puzzles and lore pieces that slowly fill the player in on the horrors that are contained within. Remothered: Tormented Fathers mostly received critical acclaim for its stunning art direction, especially with its sound design. Broken Porcelain looks to maintain and even exceed that with Luca Balboni returning to the helm, composing the game’s score.
As for the game’s "Whispers’’ trailer, we are given a glimpse into the life of two young girls named Jennifer and Lindsay who develop a budding relationship within the walls of the Ashmann Inn. Right now, I would guess that the two will either be used as flashback devices, may be playable through flashbacks, or maybe are the game’s main protagonists, with possible switching to and from mechanics depending on the stage of the game.
Remothered: Broken Porcelain is set to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on October 20.
