Clash Of Clans has been dominating the mobile space since 2012. Now five years into the game’s lifecycle, some seriously old iOS devices will no longer be able to play it. If you’re running anything lower than iOS 7, the next update won’t be coming for you. Supercell confirmed this news in a blog post on Wednesday.
Supercell said, “With the next coming update to Clash of Clans, we will unfortunately have to end support for all Apple devices running on iOS versions lower than 7.x due to technical reasons beyond our control.” The only way to play the game once the patch goes live is to update as soon as possible.
The list of iOS devices that cannot update to iOS 7 include:
- iPhone 3G S
- iPod Touch (3rd and 4th generation)
- iPad (1st generation)
Beyond those few outliers, everything else can be updated to support the next big release. This includes:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPod Touch (5th generation)
- iPad 2
- iPad 3
- iPad 4
- iPad Mini (1st generation)
If this change applies to you, it may be time to consider an upgrade. Clash Of Clans may or may not be worth the price of new hardware, but the benefits would certainly make for a better all-around experience beyond gaming.
We don’t officially know what the next big Clash Of Clans update will bring. The game’s last big update launched in December. It brought Events, balance changes and a few limited holiday perks.
Clash Of Clans is available now on Android and iOS.
