Clash Of Clans’ developers at Supercell have decided to cancel ClashCon 2016 to focus on content updates. A recent official blog post explains the reasoning for the change of heart.

The statement begins by saying that “part of working in small teams means sometimes saying no to things we badly want to do. Unfortunately, this year, we have to say no to ClashCon.” It’s further added that “the best way to thank our players is to stay focused on the things that benefit the entire Clash community: improvements and additions to the games and experiences that players everywhere can enjoy.”

ClashCon, on the other hand, was an event that took place at the Messukeskus Expo And Convention Centre in Finland last October. It was then that many Clash Of Clans fans got their first glimpse of the controversial Town Hall 11 update to come. In 2016, however, that showcase will not be taking place.

If updates are indeed the focus, here’s everything we know about what’s anticipated from Supercell over the next few weeks. Following the hotly debated launch of the Healer balance changes, it was said that coders are working on the next major patch. Staff hasn’t revealed much about what’s being tweaked, but the next revision is expected to go live in the latter half of September. The addition of new defensive structures was also denied.

Another possible area of interest for the September update is Friendly Challenges. A Q and A in August revealed that Supercell may be looking to adjust the new practice mode to make it less frustrating and more practical to use. It was hinted that the current cool down timer may be tweaked and that heroes could possibly have a presence in challenges too.

However, without official sneak peeks to go by, all of these anecdotes should be considered speculation for now.

ClashCon is on hiatus, but Clash Of Clans is still available now on Android and iOS.
