Crysis Remastered was released on PC and other major platforms in September last year. Ever since then, fans have been asking whether other games in the sci-fi franchise will get the same treatment. Well, now we have our answer.
A few days ago, Crytek announced that Crysis Remastered Trilogy will be released in late 2021. The trilogy will contain Crysis Remastered that was released last year and the remaster of Crysis 2 and 3. You will also be able to purchase C2 and C3 remasters when they become available.
All the remasters will only contain single-player campaigns. So if you were hoping for multiplayer, well, tough luck. What kind of graphical improvements will be made to the remaster of C2 and C3 have not been announced. But I am guessing that ray tracing will be applied to both games along with 4K textures. You can watch the teaser trailer of the remastered trilogy below.
Crytek has been teasing the remasters of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 for a while now. It was teased by the official Crysis Twitter account with quotes and images from both games. Last year back in April, the Chief Creative Officer for Saber Interactive, Tim Willits, mentioned multiple remasters instead of just Crysis Remastered.
Unfortunately, it seems like Crysis Warhead is still not getting the remaster treatment. Warhead is a standalone story expansion of the first game. We are hoping that the developer has learned from the disastrous launch of Crysis Remastered and will make sure that the same thing doesn’t happen again.
The trilogy will launch on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. It is playable on both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility. We don’t know if the trilogy on PC will be exclusive to Epic Games Store or Steam. Crysis Remastered, however, has an exclusivity deal with EGS so I expect the sequels to follow suit.
So what do you think? Are you excited about the Crysis Remastered Trilogy? Or do you want Crytek to focus on a sequel instead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
