The long-in-development Dead Island 2 has once again been delayed. Now calm down, no need to get all worried. This time, the delay isn’t too long because you will only have to wait for 12 more weeks. The new release date of the game is April 28, 2023.
I think it’s safe to say that the game must be in the polishing state as the delay isn’t years long. Hopefully, it will be the last one and we will soon be playing the highly anticipated game ourselves.
New Showcase Confirmed
The announcement was made via the official Twitter account, and there is some good news as well. The developer revealed that a new Showcase will take place on December 6, so expect more details and hopefully, tons of gameplay footage. The showcase will go live on the official Twitch and YouTube channels. You will also be able to watch it via the game’s official website.
Official Reveal
Dead Island 2 was re-revealed to the world at Gamescom 2022, which took place in August. The developer surprised everyone by showing off a cinematic trailer and gameplay trailer. From what we see, the game looks quite impressive. However, we should reserve our judgment until it's out.
Previous Delays and Developers
We all know that Dead Island 2 is no stranger to delays. The highly anticipated zombie game was originally planned for Q2 2015 before getting delayed over and over again. It also switched developers twice, first from Yager Development to Sumo Digital and finally to Dambuster Studios.
About the Game
Dead Island 2 is developed using Unreal Engine 4 and is a cross-gen title. The game will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The PC version will be available exclusively via Epic Games Store. A Stadia version was planned but that won’t be happening now for obvious reasons.
