In a world infested by zombies, do you have what it takes to survive? That’s what the upcoming game DeadCraft is all about. The game is launching on May 19 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
So how did everything come to this? A hail of meteors had reduced earth to a barren wasteland. As if that wasn’t enough, the devastations released a mysterious virus capable of resurrecting the dead. Only a fraction of the human population remains and most of them are grouped into small outposts.
Out of the chaos, a rare survivor exposed to the virus has come out in the half-human half-zombie named Reid. However, he is captured by Nebron, leader of the Ark, and tortured. While he has escaped, he is more than determined to return to the city and get his revenge.
Key features of the game include:
- Farm the Dead to Stay Alive
- Plant fresh corpses, or just a combination of limbs, into the ground and give them a little care until they sprout into an undead army of infantry, sentries, and more.
- Creeptastic Crafting
- To survive the apocalypse, there are times when there is a need to use whatever scraps one can find to make new weapons.
- Other times it means enlisting a loyal undead to assist in building and running an entire factory of machinery that’s churning out an unholy amalgamation of survival items.
- Death-Defying Powers of the Undead
- The zombie side of Reid gives him a powerful advantage in a fight, such as shielding himself from danger and swatting enemies away like annoying gnats.
- However, as each devoured enemy pushes him closer to his zombie side, he’ll need to make sure that he can maintain what little humanity he has left.
- Become a Savior or a Scourge
- Help out other survivors to learn new recipes or abilities.
- Reid can also shake down a local and take money from them.
In a statement, XSEED Games Executive Vice President Kenji Hosoi shared that developer Marvelous First Studio has done a good job with the game, combining farming and crafting elements and at the same time, letting Reid embrace his inner zombie. He added that they are excited to see which road players will take.
