The much-awaited sequel to "Death Stranding" has been confirmed during the South by Southwest (SXSW) 2025 event. As was expected, the game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, much like what the original game was set up to be before it was later released for PC.
Preorders are scheduled to take place later this month, and the game is set for a summer 2025 release.
SXSW 2025: 'Death Stranding 2' Preorder, Release Date Confirmed
Over the weekend, the world was given an exclusive and special teaser into the sequel of Hideo Kojima's award-winning game, and a panel during SXSW provided more details about what to expect from the game.
One of the most important details revealed by Kojima and PlayStation are the preorder dates for "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach." Players will only have over a week to wait before it opens.
According to Kojima Production's official website for its new title, "Death Stranding 2" will open its preorders by March 17 at 10 a.m. local time. It was also revealed that the game will be released on June 26.
The good thing is that all preorders of the game will include its different bonuses. The standard edition guarantees that the buyer will get the base game, a custom Quokka hologram, and Silver-tier Battle, Boost, and Bokka Skeletons.
On the other hand, the Digital Deluxe Edition offers all the preorder bonus alongside exclusive in-game items, including a Level 1 Machine Gun (MP Bullets), Patch 70 to 71, and Gold-tier Battle, Boost, and Bokka Skeletons.
Lastly, the Collector's Edition offers the digital version of the game, a Collector's Box, a 15" Magellan Man Statue, a 3" Dollman Figurine, Art Cards, and an exclusive letter from Hideo Kojima. The same in-game items from the Digital Deluxe Edition and the same pre-order bonus from the base version are also available for the Collector's Edition.
What to Expect From 'Death Stranding 2: On the Beach'?
Only the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Collector's Edition will get the exclusive 48-hour early access for the preorder purchase, giving players a head start to explore the new cosmic action from Hideo Kojima.
It was revealed that the game will cost starting at $69.99 for the standard version of "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," complete with the pre-order bonus. On the other hand, the Digital Deluxe version will set users back an extra $10, meaning it will cost $79.99.
The most expensive one will be the Collector's Edition which is available for $229.99.
Kojima and his studio also shared an exclusive 10-minute preorder trailer that dove right into the game's upcoming story, featuring Norman Reedus' Sam, Lea Seydoux's Fragile, Elle Fanning's Tomorrow, Alastair Duncan's The President, and more.
