Ryan Reynolds won’t let anyone taint his vision for Deadpool 2, no matter how much money the first one made.
The Wrap reports director Tim Miller’s decision to part ways came down to drastic creative differences between he and Reynolds. Apparently, Reynolds and the other Deadpool 2 writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, wanted to keep with the tone of the first movie. That means one-liners, raunchy jokes and lots of action.
However, Miller wanted to make the film a bit more flashy and couldn’t agree on an actor for Cable. Miller reportedly wanted Kyle Chandler to play Cable, but Reynolds wanted another unnamed actor to take on the role. Reynolds allegedly wasn’t having it, since the first Deadpool made more than $780 million worldwide with a $58 million budget under his creative direction. Basically, Reynolds didn’t want to stray from the film’s original vision and Miller wanted to make things a bit more over-the-top.
“There were two totally different movies on the table, and one of them just wasn’t Deadpool,” a source told The Wrap.
Deadpool 2 is currently in production, but does not have an official release date.
