Netflix's 'Devil May Cry' Series Push Fans to Try Games
ComicBook Gaming has reported that "Devil May Cry" is getting a resurgence in popularity like what was experienced by the franchise in the early 2000s, and it is largely thanks to the popular Netflix animated series adaptation, which has become a must-watch series.
Because of its positive reviews and incredible performance on Netflix, many have been trying out the games on which it was based, and many are now rediscovering the cult classic action-adventure franchise.
According to SteamDB's monitoring (via Dreamboum), the "Devil May Cry HD Collection" from Capcom only peaked at 591 players when it was first released, but now, it has risen to more to 5,000 concurrent players.
However, it is not only the collection that is trending in the market today, particularly as almost every title from the franchise is getting love from the mass audience because of its notable fame on Netflix. The series did not deviate much from the source for its characters and plot, which features the iconic protagonist and demon hunter, Dante, his brother Vergil, and many more.
Capcom's 'Devil May Cry' Is Surging in the Market
The highest-performing game from Capcom's franchise is the latest release of the company, with "Devil May Cry 5" being the most popular among gamers who are trying it out now. According to the report, this game from almost six years ago features a 24-hour peak of 14,604 users, but its highest peak of all time came when Netflix released the series, where it saw 14,976 players.
Before the series premiered on Netflix, "Devil May Cry 5" still had a following, but it only had 1,600 users playing the title, compared to when it premiered where it rose to almost 15,000.
On the other hand, the collection trilogy from Capcom, "Devil May Cry HD Collection," features a current 24-hour peak of 7,622 players, as per SteamDB. This is also the game's all-time peak, per the report, since it was released by the Japanese gaming company.
Apart from this, ComicBook Gaming noted that apart from the Netflix series, Capcom may have also contributed to the surge of players trying out "DMC" games, particularly as the publisher currently has a sale for the games.
"Devil May Cry 5" and "DmC: Devil May Cry" are available for only $7.49 each, as of press time, which is 75% off their respective price tags. On the other hand, "Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition" also costs $7.49 with a 70% discount from Capcom.
