This week’s Diep.io updates added the new Auto Trapper, Spread Shot and Streamliner subclasses, along with the return of Tag Mode. Find out about the changes along with an update tank class tree, here.

Diep.io has seen a number of updates since its release, but this week has been particularly busy as several new subclasses have been added as well as the return of Tag Mode.

We’ve put together a rundown of what we know about the new subclasses along with an updated class tree to help you decide what upgrade paths you will take.

August Diep.io Subclass Additions

Spread Shot

Spread Shot subclass includes 11 cannons, one regular and 10 small.

The Spread Shot comes off of the Twin class and becomes an option at level 45 after upgrade to the Triple shot. It has 11 guns– 10 small and one large that shoot in consecutive order -- the large one shorts out a regular sized bullet first, one on each side of it shoot together in order until all shots are fired and the cycle begins again. In a cycle, a total of 1 regular and 10 small bullets are shot. The new Spread Shot tank is best used against large groups of enemy tanks but is vulnerable to concentrated fire from tanks like the Sprayer or Streamliner.

Streamliner

The Streamliner is a new Diep.io subclass with 5 stacked cannons

The Streamliner comes off of the Sniper class and becomes an option at level 45 after upgrade to Hunter. The Streamliner has a circular base and 5 stacked barrels, each extending out further than the previous one. The bullets are all fired at once and though their individual damage is low, 5 shots at once is a nice benefit. The Streamliner tank is also quick to reload. It’s best to use for focusing on a single target but is weak against multiple targets at once.

Auto Trapper

Auto Trapper subclass is similar to the Diep.io Trapper class, but with an auto turret.

This is a brand spanking new subclass, added August 15. The Auto Trapper comes off of the Sniper class and becomes an option at level 45 after a Trapper upgrade. The Auto Trapper looks a lot like the trapper but with an Auto Turret on top. The Auto Trapper behaves a lot like the trapper too, firing traps at enemies, but with the Auto Turret on top, it gives this new subclass an extra bit of “umph.” One downside is that the Auto Turret cannot be controlled but it fires stronger than the normal cannon. It’s a great tank against ram boosters or other slow moving tanks but will be weak against high damage classes like Streamliner or Sprayer

Other August Diep.io Updates:

New Class Tree In Game

Last week a new Class Tree was added that players can access while they are in the game. If you want to access the class tree, simple press and hold down “Y” after a game begins. This can be a useful tool in helping you decide which tank to upgrade to when you reach a new tier if you have a particular outcome in mind. For those who find this kind of tree difficult to read, we’ve added another version of the updated class tree at the bottom of the post.

Tag Mode Returns

In the latest August 15 update, Diep.io developers announced the return of the Tag Game Mode. There are five different modes of Diep.io play – Free For All, Team Death Match, Domination, Mothership and Tag Mode.

Tag Mode is similar to the Team Death Match mode in that your level one tank spawns at a random place as either a red or blue tank. Then, you have to try to destroy other players in a "FFA Map". If you die, you will respawn on the team that killed you. The leaderboard shows the number of players each team has. Additionally, the arena in Tag Mode gets smaller as a team starts to dominate.
