Dota 2: Quick Recap of the Ongoing Season of the 2022 DPC

A quick update.
A quick update. Valve

It’s been quite some time since the new competitive season of Dota 2 has started. Some regions are actually heading into the final week of matches. Since these matches are happening in January, this is a good time to review what has happened so far.

We’ll be focusing on Division 1 of each region where the participants for the Majors are coming. Basically, eight teams are fighting it out with some getting slots for the said Majors. To give you an idea, here are the spots available:

  • Western Europe: 4 spots
  • Eastern Europe: 3 spots
  • North America: 2 spots
  • South America: 2 spots
  • Southeast Asia: 3 spots
  • China: 4 spots

Here’s the rundown for each region:

    • Team Liquid looks to be performing well so far in this new season. The new OG team is also doing really good and news to win its last match to secure a spot.
    • Powerhouse teams Alliance and Team Secret appear to be having issues. Their chances of going to Division 2 remain low.
    • TI10 champion Team Spirit is having a strong showing but it's still a bit too early to tell with a lot of matches left.
    • Leading the pack is PuckChamp followed by HellRaisers.
    • Virtus.pro is not doing well so far.
    • For this region, the top four teams are what could be expected.
    • However, with only two spots available, it seems that Evil Geniuses may have to wait for the next season for a chance to join the Majors.
    • This looks to be the only region where the top teams in the previous DPC remain on top.
    • We're talking about Thunder Predator and Beastcoast. Both teams remain undefeated.
    • T1 continues to have a consistent performance, though it's BOOM Esports that's sitting comfortably at the top position.
    • Fnatic still has a chance to join the upcoming Major if things go in their favor.
    • TNC Predator looks to be going down to Division 2 for the next season.

Overall, some top teams in the previous DPC are having a hard time getting their bearings in this new season. Then again, with new teams having a chance to join the upcoming major tournament, it’s sure to be an exciting competition.

What about you? How's your favorite team doing?
