Tour 2 for Division I of the new Dota 2 DPC 2022-2023 Season is finally over. We now get to see the teams participating in Berlin Major. Looking at the composition, it appears more the same. By that, we mean that most teams joining this upcoming tournament are the same ones in Lima Major.
If you don't believe us, here are the qualified teams:
- Western Europe
- Team Liquid (Participated in Lima Major)
- Gaimin Gladiators (Participated in Lima Major)
- Tundra Esports (Participated in Lima Major)
- TBA
- Eastern Europe
- HellRaisers (Participated in Lima Major)
- Team Spirit (Participated in Lima Major)
- BetBoom (Participated in Lima Major)
- North America
- TSM (Participated in Lima Major)
- Shopify Rebellion (Participated in Lima Major)
- South America
- Beastcoast (Participated in Lima Major)
- Evil Geniuses (Participated in Lima Major)
- China
- Xtreme Gaming
- PSG.LGD (Participated in Lima Major)
- Invictus Gaming
- Team Aster (Participated in Lima Major)
- Southeast Asia
- Talon Esports (Participated in Lima Major)
- Execration (Participated in Lima Major)
- Team SMG
If you look again at that list, you'll see that of the 18 teams participating, 14 were part of Lima Major. By the way, there's still one spot being fought over in Western Europe. If Entity gets it, that means another team was also part of Lima Major.
If Lima Major is any indicator, we should expect another fight between two teams from Western Europe in the grand final. Hopefully, things are different this time especially with the new update released a while back.
Berlin Major
Berlin Major is the second major of the new DPC season and it's being organized by ESL One with matches happening at the Velodrom in Berlin. The group stage is scheduled to begin on April 26 with the grand final on May 7. The tournament has a prize pool of $500,000 with total DPC points of 2,700.
A total of 18 teams are participating in the group stage divided into two groups of nine each. The top four teams from each group will move to the upper bracket of the playoffs. Meanwhile, the teams placed fifth and sixth from each group will drop to the lower bracket. The remaining teams will be eliminated.
To get the cash prize and DPC points, teams need to be at least in sixth to eighth place.
