Valve released a bunch of new information on the Dota 2 Boston Major this week, about a month after the company first announced its next Dota tournament, including the final list of participants in the last big Dota 2 event of 2016. We also got the first tidbits of information on Valve’s plans for 2017, including confirmation of a spring Major and the qualifying dates for The International, the annual world championship tournament that brings the world’s best Dota 2 players to Seattle.

Last month, Valve announced its next round of Dota 2 tournaments, another four-event series that will once again culminate with next year’s International. At the time, we only knew some of the names we’d see in the first Valve-sponsored Dota tournament since TI6, but a new update from the game’s developer has unveiled the rest of the participants for the Dota 2 Boston Major.

Just in case you forgot, here are the directly invited to the Dota 2 Boston Major:

  • Wings Gaming

  • Digital Chaos

  • Evil Geniuses

  • Newbee

  • EHOME

  • Execration

  • OG

  • MVP Phoenix

And here are the teams that survived the qualifiers to earn a spot in the tournament:

  • Team NP

  • compLexity Gaming

  • LGD.Forever Young

  • iG Vitality

  • Ad Finem

  • Virtus.pro

  • Team Faceless

  • WarriorsGaming.Unity

As a reminder, the Boston Major won’t begin for another month. The Group Stages begin on Dec. 3, concluding a day later, before the Main Event kicks off on Dec. 7. The championship series is currently scheduled for Dec. 10. But that isn’t all Valve had to say this week.

In addition to the new Boston Major info, Valve also decided now would be the perfect time to release early information on the next tournament on the company’s schedule, along with very early information on next year’s world championship event. According to Valve, the spring Major will run April 20-23, with open qualifiers March 6-9 and regional qualifiers March 10-13. The company has yet to reveal the host city; however, considering next month’s tournament is set in Boston, it’s unlikely the next Dota 2 Major will take place in North America.

To round out today’s info dump, we also learned The International will return next August. Open qualifiers for the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year are currently scheduled for June 22-25, followed by regional qualifiers June 26-29, with the Main Event expected “the first half of August.”
