The first six teams from this year’s Dota 2 world championship tournament have been revealed by Valve, via the latest sub-section of the MOBA’s website, and (as usual) all of the names on The International 6 direct invite list should look pretty familiar to longtime Dota 2 fans.

It’s only been about a week since Valve wrapped up the Dota 2 Manila Major, the first major Dota 2 tournament to be hosted in the Philippines, and OG emerged as victors for the first time in the Major series. But, with this year’s International less than 2 months away, there’s no time to sit back and enjoy the win. Over the weekend, Valve announced the first six participants for this year’s Dota 2 world championship tournament -- which returns to Seattle this August -- and the Manila Major champions are one of several high-profile squads we’re guaranteed to see at TI6.

Here are the six teams directly invited to this year’s International:

  • LGD Gaming

  • MVP Phoenix

  • Natus Vincere

  • Newbee

  • OG

  • Team Liquid

The remaining participants in this year’s Dota 2 world championship will be determined by a series of Open and Regional Qualifiers that begin later this week. Open Qualifiers begin on Tuesday, June 21, with the winners advancing to the Regional Qualifier for their corner of the map.The top two teams in each region will secure an invite to The International 6. Third place teams will also be invited to Seattle, to compete in the Wild Card round; however, only two of the four will get to compete in this year’s tournament.
