Is Anathan “ana” Pham going back to OG? That seems to be on the mind of many Dota 2 fans as the team announced that it had parted ways with Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng. MidOne had been with the team since January of last year.
It was also in January 2020 when OG announced that ana was extending his break, though he may decide to come back for the next season. As we now know, the 2020 season was canceled mainly due to the pandemic.
However, when ana left, the team immediately signed MidOne, and since then, OG has been doing good but not at the level of a former two-time TI champion. The team’s highest finish last year was second place during the OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division and EPIC League Season 2 Division 1.
In a statement , MidOne was initially a mid player but when he got signed, he shifted to a carry role and now started on offlane. Still, this resulted in him learning not only new heroes but also new ways to play. OG added that he even managed to perform what was expected of him despite playing with a 300 ping.
OG CEO JMR Luna shared that despite the difficulties, MidOne still worked hard and gave it his best. Luna added that the organization hopes he finds success in his future endeavors.
OG Captain Johan “N0tail” Sundstein said pretty much the same thing and continued that while he is indeed an extraordinary player, it was unfortunate that the team couldn’t get the results they wanted. OG co-owner Sébastien “Ceb” Debs revealed that MidOne remains to be a good player yet the needed synergy with the team was never there.
This brings us back to the question we posed earlier: is ana returning to OG? Although having ana back would be good news to OG fans, there’s no guarantee that the team would return to the way it was. Right now, for example, OG just missed being part of the Singapore Major and must work harder for the next major.
There’s no doubt that many fans are looking forward to OG’s final decision.
