The full roster for Dragon Ball FighterZ hasn’t been revealed yet, but we do know one new fighter who will be joining in the fray: everyone’s favorite purple-haired sword expert, Trunks.
This information comes courtesy of the latest issue of Jump magazine, by way of Siliconera. While Jump magazine is in Japanese, Siliconera has provided some context to what’s going on. There are also enough pictures to figure out what the announcement is for.
At the bottom of the page, there is a photo of Trunks in his trademark purple jacket. This means the version of Trunks we will get in Dragon Ball FighterZ will likely be from the first time Trunks appears in the series, having traveled back in time from the future to warn everyone about the dangers of Cell.
Siliconera also reports the page from Jump mentions a closed beta for Dragon Ball FighterZ. Details were limited, so more information about the beta will be revealed at a later date.
This brings the roster for Dragon Ball FighterZ up to seven confirmed fighters. Along with Trunks, players will be able to pick Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Frieza, Majin Buu and Cell.
There are still some major missing names on this list, including everyone’s favorite human, Krillin. Seeing as how Cell and Trunks are included, it would also make sense to see the Androids show up as well. Of course, you can’t have a proper DBZ game without Piccolo, either.
It’ll be interesting to see if multiple versions of the same character will be included. For example, Trunks has been both a child and an adult in the DBZ TV series and Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu all had multiple forms. It would be cool to see all these versions of popular characters represented in the game.
Dragon Ball FighterZ will release for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in early 2018.
