A total of eight Dota 2 team have hurdled the qualifiers in order to compete in the upcoming OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019. Set for April 22 to April 28, the tournament has a prize pool of $300,000 with total 500 Pro Circuit Points.
For the teams participating, there is an even more important prize at stake. This is a chance to be part of the MDL Disneyland Paris Major.
This is the route that Vici Gaming took after originally failing to qualify in DreamLeague Season 11 in Stockholm. VG had to go through the qualifiers of the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor and win that tournament. VG later showed just how hungry it was for the championship by winning the Stockholm Major.
For the North America qualifier, all eyes were on J.Storm to get the slot, but Forward Gaming would not be denied as the team swept its competition beginning in the quarterfinals and all the way to the Finals with J.Storm.
For the Europe qualifier, two slots were given to Ninjas in Pyjamas and Alliance. Alliance currently has Omar “Madara” Dabachach serving as substitute for Michael “miCKe” Vu, who took a break due to an arm injury. China was given two slots as well, which have been claimed by Royal Never Give Up and EHOME.
For South America, Pacific eSports won the slot over teams like Infamous and Thunder Predator.
Meanwhile the CIS region saw Gambit Esports beat out Old but Gold for the chance to be in the Minor. Finally, Southeast Asia has Indonesian Dota 2 team BOOM ID winning over WG.Unity to take the slot.
For the Croatia Minor, the eight teams are divided into two groups. Each group follows a round-robin format. All games in the Group Stage are best-of three.
The Playoffs follow a double-elimination format with matches played in a best-of three format. The Grand Finals are a best-of five.
