A week ago, a "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" leak said that there would be 27 Pokémon that would receive the new Mega Evolutions. Now, a new leak teases a possible design for Starmie, one of the most beloved Water-type Pokémon from the Kanto region.
While a new post suggests that the early leak is fake, others argue that they are different from one another.
Mega Starmie's Blank Model Design on 'Pokémon Legends: Z-A'
As posted by alfrxld on r/PokeLeaks subreddit, a blank model for Starmie will look like the illustration below:
Apparently, it immediately received negative reactions from the Reddit users. One user hoped that The Pokémon Company won't release it because it is "completely horrific.'
"That thing is disturbing. I thought it would have had a wider leg gap, but the model is real, apparently. BallGuy commented on it," another Redditor commented.
"I kinda like it. Starmie always felt kinda weird, so it being this gross distortion rather than two actual legs kinda feels on brand if it's real," another replied to the discussion post.
Still, while many are wondering why Starmie will be getting a bizarre look for its Mega Evolution, others have new theories in mind as to why it could happen in Lumiose City.
One Redditor said that Mega Starmie got "The Thing" vibes. The commenter likened the Mega Starmie model to an alien who tries so hard to act human after being caught trying to shapeshift.
"I think Mega Evolutions should be inherently silly and cartoonish in a 'science gone wrong' kinda way, so I'm fond of this," another person said.
"Makes sense, because all but maybe like one of the Mega's dex entries describe them either going through horrible pain, turning psychotic, or both," another Pokémon fan replied.
Is the Mega Starmie Leak Really Fake?
In another post by zachblue, the early Mega Starmie leak was confirmed fake. However, after close observation, the Mega Starmie model in this post was different from the one we saw earlier in another post.
"This is different to the blank model tho," one Pokémon gamer said.
However, the OP replied to one Redditor that the leaked image and the lead model are not the same. The poster added, "The ballguy is only the one who gets info from a leaker, he is not a leaker. He knows nothing."
One user joked that the model looks like Patrick (from SpongeBob SquarePants) caught in the fishnets.
"This is so incredibly lazy," another fan wrote.
