Attention racers! It’s time to rev up those engines as F1 22 is launching a “Free Play” weekend. From October 20 to October 24, players around the world have the chance to play the game for free on PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Once the free trial ends, new players can check out the special price promotions being offered by different platform retailers. That way, they can buy the full game and continue their progress. During the “Free Play” weekend, players can also get US-inspired in-game items for free.
Meet Daniel Ricciardo
This special promotion is to celebrate the Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix 2022. Players can also look forward to McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo joining in the fun and giving them a rather entertaining “How To” guide in taking on the Circuit of the Americas.
The guide made by Ricciardo is shared through his personal experience as well as charismatic personality. He digs into technical knowledge like braking points, tough turns, passing, and DRS zones. He also explains what players need to do to conquer the track.
Fans can then put their new skills to the test by taking on the Ricciardo Hot Lap Challenge. Then, they need to post their fastest lap of the Circuit of the Americas using the hashtags #RicciardoChallenge and #F122gameSweepstakes for the duration of the “Free Play” weekend.
On October 28, a lucky participant will be selected at random for the chance to virtually meet and greet, and even race-off, with none other than Daniel Ricciardo himself.

In a statement, Senior Director of the F1 Franchise at Codemasters Paul Jeal shared that with the Circuit of the Americas just around the corner, they wanted to offer something special that would allow a lot of players “to experience the new era of Formula 1.” He added that during the free weekend trial anyone has the chance to not only try out Formula 1 but also have Daniel Ricciardo show them around the track.
By the way, all players who log in from October 18 to November 7 receive a Stars and Stripes livery, helmet, race suit, and gloves, plus The Griddy podium celebration.
