One of the most popular functions of Facebook — aside from annual birthday reminders and rants about world events — is sharing photos and videos. The social media giant is debuting a new feature, Slideshow, which makes it simpler to share multimedia slideshows.
Slideshow syncs the user’s Facebook app with their photo and video libraries. The feature will recognize when several pictures are taken within 24 hours and automatically create a slideshow, generating a preview at the top of the user’s News Feed. At that point, the user has the choice to completely ignore it or customize it by modifying the order and layout, adding a title and tagging friends. And when you view a friend’s slideshow, you can select the “Try It” button to give the feature a shot.
“We all know that people love to snap photos and share what they’ve been up to on the weekends, whether it’s a family gathering, a road trip with friends, or even an epic brunch, and this fun new feature will let you stitch together those special photos into a format that captures the spirit of the event,” says Facebook, reports TechCrunch.
The slideshow tool comes with ten pre-made theme choices (e.g. Nostalgic, Playful, Night Out, Birthday, Epic, Thankful, Tropical, Bollywood and Amped) offering different looks and music. Facebook has reportedly announced more themes will be rolled out over time.
Slideshow was tested in select countries through Facebook’s standalone photo-sharing app, Moments. The feature is now available for all users.
