The latest trailer for Far Cry Primal just released, and features a large overview of the gameplay players can expect. While much of it will look familiar to Far Cry veterans, there are still some cool new features like RIDING A GOD DAMNED BEAR.
As the video shows, Far Cry Primal’s hero Takkar has a few different abilities than Far Cry 4’s Ajay. Most of these include Takkar’s ability to commune with nature. You’ll always have an owl sidekick with you, for example, and this owl can both scout out enemies and locations as well as attack.
Other animals, including wolves, saber toothed tigers and bears, can be trained and kept as pets. Once an animal is your pet, you can command it to attack enemies. If you played Far Cry 4, it’s basically like the Shangri La missions with the tiger.
Different animals have different play styles, so if you want to be stealthy, pick a big cat. If you want to go in and wreck everything as chaotically as possible, go with a bear. Some animals can also be ridden around.
When playing through Far Cry Primal, you will encounter two different tribes. The Udams are aggressive cannibals, and are not to be trusted. The Izilia tribe is known for kidnapping and enslaving their enemies, so they aren’t any better.
Your tribe, the Wenja, must build up your community by collecting upgrades in order to survive against both enemy tribes and the forces of nature.
Far Cry Primal will be out on PS4 and Xbox One on Feb 23. The PC version will be released on March 1.
