As Square Enix previously announced, update 1.04 (part of the Holiday Pack and Holiday Pack + ) adds the ability to take your own photos in Final Fantasy XV , including selfies of Noctis and his beloved Chocobros.

You can take photos at the Moogle Chocobo Carnival and in the main world. Here’s how to do it.

-- Press R2, as you would to access the Item menu or Chocobo menu. Keep scrolling through the different menus, or just press left once from Items, to access the photo menu.

-- Press Square (Change View) to put Noctis and the other party members in the frame. The right joystick allows you to change the view. You can zoom in with R2, and zoom out with L2.

-- Party members and NPCs won’t stay completely still and cannot be posed exactly as you may like, so you’ll have to settle for catching them at the right moment.

-- A variety of filters are available, depending on how far you’ve advanced Prompto’s photography. These include Pop, Journey, Bloom, Dawn, Memory and Roadtrip.

-- Once you’ve got your photo composed just as you want it, press R1 to snap the photo.

-- After you’ve taken at least one photo, view the products of your photo sesh using Triangle. You can choose to keep or delete them as normal.

That’s all there is to it! Unfortunately, you’re still limited to a total inventory of 150 photos. Hopefully future FFXV DLC will allow you to hoard more pics of Noctis’ adventures, but we’re not there yet.

Final Fantasy XV

Combat, Plot, Characters Create Something Flawed, Beautiful, Fantastic
Despite it's flaws, Final Fantasy XV is a milestone achievement: not just for being completed, but for being completed with polish, aplomb and love.
  • Engaging main cast of characters
  • Fun, fast-paced combat
  • A massive, beautiful world to explore
  • The Regalia!
  • Continuous updates have addressed some shortcomings of the initial release
  • Major aspects of the story feel rushed or absent, particularly toward the end of the game
  • Stealth sequences feel out of place
