There are a lot of challenging bosses in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth that players will encounter at key points in the main story.

One of these bosses is Rufus Shinra, who is arguably the core of one of the most annoying battle sequences in the game. When you encounter the boss, you will have to control Cloud and take him on in a one-on-one fight in the Gold Saucer in Chapter 12.

Similar to the Final Fantasy VII Remake, Rufus is a very agile and deadly opponent that can catch you off guard. The good news is that this enemy can be beaten if you know what you are doing.

What To Know About Rufus Shinra

The first thing you need to know about this boss is that he is immune to all forms of elemental damage, which means that only standard attacks can hurt him. You should also know that timing is very important in this fight.

You should time your attacks when he is reloading his gun or make use of an ATB Command right after he finishes his combo. The boss can also block and counter many of Cloud's basic attacks, according to Screen Rant.

Take advantage of Focused Thrust, which is arguably one of the most useful attacks you can use in the fight against Rufus. Make sure you use it when the boss reloads so that you can pressure or stagger him.

Fighting the Boss

Players should always be ready to dodge Rufus' attacks throughout the fight as they deal significant amounts of damage if they land. You can spend some time getting used to his attacks and timing to know when to dodge and where.

Use Cloud's ranged strikes to fill up the ATB in order to give you a chance to make use of the ATB Command. Take advantage of Rufus' reload animation, as it takes quite a bit of time to finish, Kotaku said.

Other Tips

The main attack that players should keep an eye out for is Guns Akimbo, as Rufus will always reload his weapon after it. This is a guaranteed opportunity for you to dish out some hefty damage to the boss.

You can deal much more damage as well as stagger Rufus if you successfully hit the boss with an ATB Ability during his reload animation. Be wary, as this will sometimes require you to strike him with an initial hit to open up a bigger window, according to Game Rant.
