Details about the big bad for 'The Flash' Season 3 have emerged. CW

The Flash Season 3 villain is Barry Allen at this point. He’s his own worst enemy after going back in time to save his mother, knowing full well the consequences of his actions. Now that Nora Allen is alive and everything Team Flash has accomplished since is seemingly erased from time, The Flash Season 2 finale left us with way more questions than answers. Everything is up in the air, or should I say somewhere in the multiverse, and we have absolutely no clue what to expect in the first episode of Season 3.

Putting aside all the Flashpoint questions, fans are also dying to know who’s going to be The Flash’s main adversary in Season 3. Courtesy of TVLine's "Ask Ausiello" column , we have a hefty hint:

Question: Any hints on The Flash‘s Season 3 Big Bad? I’m hoping Mirror Master is introduced!

Ausiello: I’m seeing nothing firm (yet) on Mirror Master being introduced, but here’s a curious new breakdown to wrap your noodle around: For Season 3, the CW hit is casting the major recurring character of Barry’s slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn’t buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he’s hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own….

The character description is certainly vague, as most breakdowns are, and could suggest a variety of sciency characters like The Folded Man, The Alchemist, or even Mister Element. Even more interesting than this mystery baddie’s identity, is he/she part of Barry’s present life or past Flashpoint-induced timeline?

As for other new faces in Season 3, it’d be a shame if the Season 2 finale was the last time we saw Henry Allen’s doppleganger, Jay Garrick (aka The Flash). The original JSA member may make his way over to Legends of Tomorrow to join DC TV newcomer Hourman.

But The Flash isn’t light on the speedster front even without Garrick. Zoom may not be gone for good. From the looks of it, he’s turned into the speed force guardian, Black Flash . Tom Cavanagh may also be returning to his speedster alter ego, The Reverse Flash. Grant Gustin has also teased that more speedsters are inevitable--so we could be also see Wally West as Kid Flash, or Jesse Wells as Jesse Quick.

Any guesses on the identity of Barry’s adversarial contemporary? Let us know in the comments below!
