After much teasing, The Flash, Supergirl crossover is officially happening this March.
According to CBS, Barry Allen will be coming to the CBS show on March 28 to meet with Supergirl.
“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we started making ‘Supergirl’ – The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!” said “Flash” and “Supergirl” executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. “We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”
The details regarding the plot of the crossover event are unknown but if you have been following The Flash season 2 you can probably guess how the two superheroes will get to meet.
Spoiler Alert! The following may spoil scenes from season 2 of The Flash. Proceed with caution.
At the end of the latest Flash episode, Barry and his gang at Star Labs begin their journey to Earth 2 to stop the monster Zoom using one of the 52 breaches to other Earths.
It’s logical to conclude that the Flash will end up traveling through one of these breaches to meet with Kara on Supergirl. Whether this has to do with Zoom is yet unknown but the way the DC television crew have handled the crossovers in the past, it’s likely it will tie into both shows’ season-long stories.
The Flash and Arrow have crossed over in back to back seasons and they were handled really well in terms of both series’ overarching stories.
Even the Flash himself, Grant Gustin is happy to be meeting Supergirl for the first time on-camera.
