The Dota 2 post-TI shuffle is an event that many fans look forward to. Of course, that depends on which point of view you are looking at it from. The roster shuffle after The International 2019 has had surprises, to say the least. Several players of top-tier Dota 2 teams were not spared. Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan of Evil Geniuses, for example, has been benched by the team. Carlo "Kuku" Palad of TNC also made the choice to move to another team.
The biggest news so far has been centered on Team Liquid and Alliance. The reason being that the roster of these two teams decided to leave. Fortunately, the two teams managed to get new lineups in time for the MDL Chengdu Major. Here's the twist: the new roster of Team Liquid is composed of former players from Alliance.
Liquid
For Liquid, its biggest change happened even before The International 2019. Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen left the team and was replaced by Aliwi "w33" Omar. The roster led by Kuro Salehi "KuroKy" Takhasomi revealed that they were leaving the organization without giving any specific reason. However, Team Liquid Director Victor "Nazgul" Goossens did let it slip that they were planning to establish their own organization.
With this change, the new roster is now composed of:
- Michael “miCKe” Vu (Position 1)
- Maximilian “Qojqva” Bröcker (Position 2)
- Samuel “Boxi” Svahn (Position 3)
- Tommy “Taiga” Le (Position 4)
- Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi (Position 5)
- Also the Team Captain
Alliance
So where does that leave Alliance? Well, they managed to sign up some experienced players are well. The team's new roster is:
- Nikolay "Nikobaby" Nikolov (Position 1)
- Last Team: Mineski
- Linus "Limmp" Blomdin (Position 2)
- Last Team: compLexity Gaming
- Neta "33" Shapira (Position 3)
- Last Team: Ninjas in Pyjamas
- Simon "Handsken" Haag (Position 4)
- Last Team: GODSENT
- Adrian "Fata" Trinks (Position 5)
- Team Captain
- Last Team: Ninjas in Pyjamas
According to Fata, he is looking forward to represent the team in the new season and that "transitioning to position 5 as well as captaining the team is a definitely new chapter for me, and I'm very excited to see how it will go."
For Nikobaby, he shared that he was close to signing with Alliance last year, but it didn't work out and he then signed with Mineski. He went on to say that he wants to continue his career in Europe and when he was contacted to be part of Alliance, along with Fata and 33, he "felt that it became a full circle."
