Fortnite continues to evolve as a slew of new changes are slated to arrive very soon. In a Fortnite Battle Royale "State of Development V4" blog post, the team at Epic addressed service stability issues, optimizations, matchmaking, gameplay, and more. However, what's really interesting are the limited time modes and custom matches coming to Fortnite. Those interested in the full breakdown can visit the Fortnite blog.
Firstly, social is slated for a slew of improvements. Epic aims to improve how players can find and play with their friends. What's more, the team plans to rework the social architecture and the social features in the game. PC players will soon be able to invite their fans to the battle royale via Facebook—console players are expected to receive the option later. Other social features coming soon include a "Looking for Group" feature as well as the option to spectate a friend's match and chat while waiting for them to finish up.
Next, Epic confirmed that more kinks need to be ironed out before custom matches are ready for roll-out. The team also stated they've been working hard to deliver Limited Time Modes. Based on player feedback, Epic looks to not only build brand-new LTMs, but also bring back old ones. In total, devs plan to "spin up" a dozen or so LTMs. In the coming month, LTMs include :
- Blitz Mode (shorter matches!)
- Drop into the first circle
- Generally less time between circles
- Team sizes in between 50v50 and squads
- 50v50 v2
- Closer to the 50v50 Trailer experience
- Split to start
- Converge on Battle
- Bus for each team
- See all your squadmates on the map
- More supply drops
